Go Big, or Go Home!
This is the inspiration for my gown, and no, I'm not kidding. Princess Di was such a beautiful, elegant bride, and boy did she know how to make an entrance!
The DRESS!!!
This is it! My dress in all it's fabulousness! It is a Demetrios. Style number 9625 from the Princess Collection. However, my dress looks nothing like the picture. First off, it is going to be white, not ivory like the picture. Then, I am having the straps removed, and the zipper back made into a corest back. Also, the train you see pictured is a detachable cathedral length train. I ordered it with an additional 6 feet added on to what you see, so my train is going to be over 12 feet long. I bought my dress from The Town Shop in Poughkeepsie, NY. The saleswoman there was a TOTAL NIGHTMARE! I spent 4 hours there trying on total abombanations of gowns and I wanted to punch her in the face. But...the last dress that I tried on was the one! And.... it was totally worth going through all the hell with her to find my perfect princess gown!
Are you ready?
You sure?
Ok!
Here it is!!!!
My dress has arrived!!!
My dress has come in! YEY! These are the pictures of my first try on. I brought my Man of Honor with me so he could take some pics and so he could see the total monster that this dress is. Since trying it on, I have now named my dress "The White Beast". Just as a side note...the reason the back of my dress is not zipped up is not because I'm a total heffer who ate too many cupackes and doesn't fit into her dress. They had to order it a size smaller because they are making the zipper back into a corset. And the pointy parts in the front of my dress on the bodice are going to be rounded because they are removing the spaghetti straps. The monster train is also detachable wooohoo!! No bustle for me. The steamstress said there was no possible way she would be able to bustle that sucker anyway. Oh, and don't mind the wrinkles....they just pulled it out of the box. It will look much better after they press it :)
The Garter...LET'S GO METS!
FI is a HUGE Mets fan so I know he's gonna love this! I ordered it from Garters By Kristi. It is a keepsake and toss garter and I also got a matching bag.
What's underneath the dress?
I ordered these boy shorts to wear underneath my dress on wedding day. It's hard to tell but the crystals are amethyst and say my new last name! YEY! I ordered these from Advantage Bridal.
The dog ate my wedding shoes!
I would love nothing more that to wear heels on my wedding day (I wear them every single day), but seeing as how my groom is not that much taller than me, and my hair will be piled on top of my head, I don't want to look like a ginormous beast standing next to him in all of our wedding pictures so......I need to wear flats. The problem is, I don't like the look of flat shoes and I really don't like white ballet flats. I also wanted my shoes to be dark purple.....hmmmm big dilemma! So I finally found a pair of dark purple, ballet flats at DSW for like 30 bucks. I bought them, but wasn't completely in love with them, and was still keeping my eye open for different shoes. Then...................I FOUND THEM!! At Payless Shoes go figure! And the best part was....not only were flat, they weren't ballet flats and...........THEY WERE THE PERFECT SHADE OF PURPLE!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, and they were 8 bucks!!!!!!!! Can't beat that!
But then............my naughty little dog decided to eat them. My FI is convinced that my dog never liked him in the first place and is scheming an elaborate plan to put a stop to the wedding once and for all. I guess he decided to start with the shoes! Good thing they were only 8 bucks! So....it's back to Payless to buy ANOTHER pair.
